I'll drink to That

“Always do sober what you said you'd do drunk. That will teach you to keep your mouth shut.” Ernest Hemingway

I'm always looking for cool new bars to try in London and so I thought I'd share some of my favourites in case I can inspire you.  I spent quite a lot of time today browsing Design My Night website and I've found several new places that I now want to visit.  It's dead easy to always go to the same old places but if you live in London you must explore. Some of the recommendations I see on other blogs are so expensive, so I've concentrated on venues where you can actually afford more than one drink!

If you find yourself in Covent Garden you might want to take advantage of Prosecco Happy Hour at 21 (and who doesn't love half price prosecco?).  They even have a roof terrace over looking the Piazza, lovely for an al fresco drink come Winter or Spring.

Salvador and Amanda is a great place to take the girls.  Dance floor, pop music, good cocktails and great atmosphere.  You can eat here too (Spanish tapas) but I prefer to go for a drink and dance instead!  They've now opened a 2nd venue in Bloomsbury, which I'm yet to check out, but I will be heading there soon I'm sure.

The Hippodrome Casino in Leicester Sq is a great place for a late night drink, they're still serving cosmos at 5am which means there's always time for one more.  A glitzy, glam mezzanine bar overlooks the gamblers so you might even get lucky.

Other faves include the Scooter Cafe (which I've blogged about before) - perfect for an afternoon tipple, Dirty Martini (for their amazing chocolate martinis) & Beach Blanket Babylon - they have branches in Notting Hill and Shoreditch - the Notting Hill venue is more French in feel, quirky, hidden little dining tables and stone walls, whereas the Shoreditch branch is shiny and glossy with a disco-esque underground bar.
Top of my list still to try are Radio Bar at the Me Hotel - there's always a queue and a ridiculous minimum spend to reserve a table which has put me off so far, The Charlotte Street Hotel for a fancy martini and Callooh Callay in Shoreditch which looks right up my alley.
What are your favourite London bars?
