Circle of Life

“Some people talk to animals. Not many listen though. That's the problem.”
― A.A. MilneWinnie-the-Pooh

On Monday, after eating our way through all the churros we could lay our hands on at breakfast, we hopped in a cab and went to Biopark, Valencia's wildlife centre.  It cost 23.80EUR each, which I think is reasonable for a morning's entertainment and after a little queue to get in we were off to explore!

Monkeys and Chimps at Biopark
My favourites were definitely the monkeys, it's so bizarre to see how similar they are to us and we witnessed them play fighting and cuddling - it was brilliant to see them so close up and I felt like I was watching a film or something.
Aside from feeling like Timon and Pumbaa (i'm pretty sure I was the warthog!) it was quite eye opening to see the animals in an almost natural habitat. The limas and the meerkats seemed happiest to see us.

In the evening we went back to our first evening's recommended restaurant to find it was finally open..Hooray,  so we feasted on prosecco, cocktails and pizza til the cows came home.  I also met this dog and fell in love immediately. She was so cute.

On our last day we explored the science and design museum area.  Its really modern design  is such a contrast to the quirky old town and it's huge expanse of water is very alluring in the heat. It's definitely worth having a look around and they even have zorbing on the man made lake if that takes your fancy.

Then... our foolish selves decided to walk to the beach.. Can I please recommend you get a taxi? It took an hour and it was 30 degrees. Perhaps not my wisest move, but when we eventually got to the beach it was worth it.  We sat in the shade, eating our sandwiches and people watching whilst returning to an acceptable temperate.  There aren't many cities in Europe with a beach and it's so nice to have both culture and relaxation in one break.

So before we knew it, it was time to come home.  Sadly we had a 3 hour delay due to the Air Traffic strike in France. A frustrating end to a lovely weekend in the sun but we did get a whole 4.50EUR food voucher from Easyjet to spend in the airport so passed the time making sure we got every cents worth.

Have you been to Valencia, what did you think?
