Livia's Kitchen Afternoon Tea

“If I was made of cake I'd eat myself before somebody else could.”
― Emma Donoghue,

What better way to spend a Saturday afternoon than with your best friend eating scones, sipping tea and instagramming?  But when said best friend doesn't eat sugar there are few options. This is where Livia's Kitchen comes to the rescue with her cream free tea idea. I've written before how I'm a fan of her sugar free philosophy and yummy snacks, so this was a chance to stuff our faces without eating loads of refined sugar and meet the lady herself.

Held at the very glam Beach Blanket Babylon in the roof space, after a short kerfuffle over entry we headed upstairs and into food heaven.
Everyone started snapping away as we waited for a few stragglers and for Livia to explain what the towers of food were.
We had guacamole oat bread sandwiches, cinamon oat cookies, vanilla scones, almond butter, chia jam, chocolate cupcakes with choc-avo frosting, mince pies and plenty of tea.
Obviously it was imperative that we tried everything....

The venue itself had forgotten the tea cups and there was a long ol' wait for hot water, but everyone started munching away and getting to know each other.  The room was lovely and light and airy, with two long trestle tables. I sat by a pair of teen cousins and a newly vegan student with her Mum. It was interesting seeing who was interested in this kind of thing - I certainly didn't pay so much attention to healthy eating when I was a youngster!
After 2 hours of solid chomping it was time to roll home. We got given a foil container to take some leftovers home and we got a goodie bag of healthy treats too.
I'd definitely recommend it for an afternoon tea treat with a difference, I was stuffed on the way home, but knew at least I'd been eating clean, natural ingredients which is a definite plus in this festive season!
